Socratic Tangents is a browser extension that lets you branch off part of an AI reply, inline, on ChatGPT and Claude. This policy explains how it handles your data.

Summary

Socratic Tangents does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything the extension does happens locally in your browser. There are no accounts, no servers, and no analytics.

What the extension accesses

• Text you select in an AI reply. When you create a tangent, the extension reads the text you have selected on the page so it can start a tangent from it. This text stays on your device.
• Page content on supported sites. The extension runs only on chatgpt.com and claude.ai to display its interface inside the page.

What the extension stores

Your tangents and settings are saved using the browser's local storage so they persist across page reloads and revisits. This data is kept only on your own device and is never sent anywhere. You can remove it at any time by deleting your tangents or uninstalling the extension.

What the extension does not do

• It does not send your data to any external server.
• It does not use remote code.
• It does not track you or collect analytics.
• It does not sell or transfer data to third parties.
• It does not use data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

Third-party services

The extension operates on the ChatGPT and Claude websites, which have their own privacy policies. Socratic Tangents does not control those services and does not send them any additional data beyond your normal use of those sites.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
